Asheville Butterfly TrailJanice Lynn Sass, 61, of Brevard, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was born in Toledo, OH, on April 3, 1965 to the late Dale Joseph and Lois Marie Sass.
She is survived by her brothers, Thomas E. Sass (Eileen), of Painesville, OH, and her loving brother, Larry A. Sass, of Toledo; several sisters; niece, Ashley M. Washing, along with several additional nieces; nephews, grand-nieces and nephews; and most importantly, she is survived by Spencer and Garrett Frei. Along with her “Tribe,” she is also survived by Ricky C. Adams.
Jan’s message to all: “I wrote this long before my passing. I wish all of my cherished friends and Tribe a loving goodbye for now. Please know that I am now at peace and in no pain, in the loving arms of my dear parents. I’m finally dancing to the music I love and having that last motorcycle ride I never rode. May you all rejoice in the lives you have on earth, in all God’s glory, may you comfort one another and be kind to one another, bring laughter and joy whenever you can. Jesus Christ is my Savior as I pray He is yours. I look forward to seeing each of you again. If you remember anything of me, remember I loved and truly appreciated each of you. Love to each of you, Sass.”
A gathering of friends and family and a Celebration of Life Party will both be held in the near future. This page will be updated with those details as soon as they are finalized. Her ashes will be scattered at Lake Erie, Put-in-Bay Island, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Jan was a light to everyone that met her. I so enjoyed hanging out with her when I still lived in Asheville, and we talked a lot through Facebook after I moved.
I will miss that smiling face.

I met Jan at Olivet Lutheran Chuch Nursery School when we were in diapers together! That lifelong connection never went away even as life pulled us in different directions. I will always miss her and our little fun play saying we were each others first bf and gf! Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed but always remembered!
