Asheville Butterfly TrailHe was the son of the late James S. Wooten, Sr. and Mamie Gardner Wooten of Kinston, NC, and was born July 8, 1906. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eudora Lyell Wooten, his sisters, Lela Wooten Hodges and Mary Louise Wooten, and his brother, George Robert Wooten.
Jimmy grew up in Kinston but resided most of his adult life in Miami, FL, and was retired from Connecticut General Life Insurance Company.
Survivors include his only child, James S. Wooten III, his daughter-in-law, Lynn A. Wooten, and his two grandchildren, James S. Wooten IV and Carey A. Wooten, all of Asheville, and his brother, William Harvey Wooten of Princeton, KY.
Services will take place Thursday, December 18. Entombment will be at 10:00 am at the Mausoleum Chapel at Woodlawn Park on SW 8th Street in Miami for family and close friends.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at Granada Presbyterian Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue in Asheville and by Van Orsdel Coral Gables Chapel in Florida.
