James ''Jim'' Harrell Bishop

A native of Fairview, NC, Mr. Bishop was the son of the late Charles J. Bishop and Bessie Connor Bishop. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Bishop and a grandson, John Bishop.
Mr. Bishop was the owner of Bishop's Machine and Tool Works in Conyers, GA until 1986 when he retired to New Smyrna Beach, FL. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Virginia Cross Bishop; two daughters, Shelia Tamm of Port Orange, FL and Sandra Bilbo of Milan, GA; two stepsons, Keith Cross of Conyers, GA and Mike Cross of Atlanta, GA; one stepdaughter, Beth Harris of Snellville, GA; four sisters, Haleen Warren of Hopewell, VA, Irene Fite of Asheville, Elizabeth Searcy of Fairview, and Betty Wahl of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 25 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Revs. Randy Bane and Hubert Bailey. Interment will follow in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road.
In lieu of remembrances, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 434 Fayetteville St. Mall, Two Hanover Square, Suite 1600, Raleigh, NC 27601 or the American Heart Association, 50 S. French Broad, Asheville, NC 28801.
