Jackie Cole

Jacqueline “Jackie” Church Cole, 90, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Cole is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jack Dempsey Cole; daughters, Annette Kirk (Philip) and Harriet Meyer (Joe); grandchildren, Morgan, Sam, Spencer, Bailey, Rachel, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Fletcher, Whitley and Carlin.

A native of War, WV, Jacqueline was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Hazel Pauline Calloway Church. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Ligon, MD; daughter, Eugenia Ligon; and her brother, Tony Church.

Jacqueline worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at Appalachian Hall and at Mission Hospital. She also instructed nursing students at AB-Tech. In her free time, she enjoyed dancing, bridge with the Beverly Bridge Club, tennis, golf and snow skiing. Above all else, she loved the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.

The Celebration of Jackie’s Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
