Jack McClinton Horton, 90, of 4588 Mtn. Creek Drive, Roswell, GA, died Sunday, September 25, 2005. A native of Yancey County, NC, he was a son of the late Richard W. and Nellie McIntosh Horton. He was retired from American Enka after 38 years of service and was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. A US Army veteran of WWII, he earned six medals while serving as a combat engineer including a Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal and an Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars. Survivors include his wife, Marian Haynes Horton; two daughters, Anice Ward and her husband Michael of Woodstock, GA and Patrice German and her husband Gary of Fort Mill, SC; two sons, Nick Horton of Roswell, GA and Jerry Horton of Acworth, GA; a sister, Mabel Comitz and her husband Paul of Garden City, NY; a brother, Kenneth Horton of Asheville; four grandchildren, Kristin, Emily, Greg and Jacob; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806, with the Revs. Richard Hester and Paul Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Ken Horton, Gary Haynes, Bill Connor, Hoyt Harron, Dwight Harron and Jack Harron serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

I have so many fond memories of you,and your family at Enka. I hope some time I can see you and introduce you to my wife Alene of seven years. You may know Kitty passed away in 1997. I married her best friend in 1998. My prayers are with you and your family.May you find comfort in Gods great love.
