Herschel Fred Yarber, 70, of Asheville, died Friday, December 15, 2000 at his residence.

A native of England, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Mary Catherene Keeling and Herb Lee Yarber. Mr. Yarber was a member of the Biltmore Masonic Lodge #446 for 34 years, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the Oasis Shriner for 25 years and the Royal Order of Moose Lodge #1705. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Jean Hancock Yarber, one son, Herschel F. Yarber, Jr. of Glenbernie, MD; one daughter, Sandra Yarber of Asheville; two step-sons, Mike Fabian of Asheville and Tim Fabian of Anderson, SC; two step-daughters, Kim Fabian of Spring Valley, CA and Teresa Edwards of Asheville; one sister, Linda Olson of Kingston, NY and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 pm Monday, December 18, 2000 at Skyland United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.

  2. Please accept our sympathy for the loss of Herschel. He was not only a buisness associate, I also considered him a friend. Our prayers are with entire family and especially Mike Fabian who completed many plumbing projects for JSR Constuction.We are sending a donation to the Shriners Hospital as requested so that the memory of Herscel will help a less fortunate child and family. WE WILL MISS YOU HERCHEL and Mike, Please know that Johnny Bennett and myself are thinking of you.
