HERRON SMITH FLEMING BLACK MOUNTAIN – Herron Smith Fleming, 97, passed away January 2, 2011 at the Highland Farms Retirement Community, Black Mountain. A native of Grand Junction, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Allie Smith Fleming and Walter Roane Fleming. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BS degree in Business Administration, and then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1979 after 42 years of employment. He was a resident of Florence, Alabama for 44 years before moving to Black Mountain in 2005. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Julian Roane Fleming and Irby Wilson Fleming and a sister, Hazel Fleming DeMore. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Edith Casciotti Fleming and his son Edward Roane Fleming. The family would like to thank the staff of the Highland Farms Retirement Community for all the care that they provided Herron. Services will be private with burial in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Branscomb #10, Charlotte, NC 28215-3200, or a charity of your choice.
