Born in: Kennesaw, Georgia
Resided in: Asheville, North Carolina

Grant Edward Moss, 44, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away on June 30, 2026, after a courageous battle against colorectal cancer. Throughout his life, Grant quietly modeled what mattered most: work hard, be kind, love generously, and show up for who and what you care about. His faith in Christ shaped the way he lived and his steadfast commitment to be present for the people he loved. Even during his illness, the full extent known only to those closest to him, Grant faced each day with grace, gratitude, and an unwavering determination that inspired everyone around him.

The first son of Brian and Jo Ann Moss, Grant grew up in Marietta, Georgia. This is where he learned to value lifelong friendships, many of which were fostered on golf courses, on baseball fields, or with a fishing rod in hand. Grant had an entrepreneurial spirit at an early age, influenced by the work ethic and values learned from his grandparents and extended family. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Georgia State University and an MBA from Emory University. Grant’s passion led him to build several successful businesses with integrity and vision. Grant was many things–an ambitious entrepreneur, respected business leader, “long ball” golfer, talented home chef, avid sports fan, and loyal friend–but his greatest joy was being a husband and father.

Grant and Chris married in 2007 and built a life together filled with laughter, hospitality, and adventure. After beginning their family in Roswell, Georgia, they moved to Asheville in 2014, where they found a community they loved. Grant was a constant presence at his children’s games, practices, performances, and events. He loved bringing people together, and his love language was cooking. Some of Grant’s happiest moments were preparing meals, hosting family and friends, traveling, playing golf, and above all, cheering on his kids in every way. His quick wit, easy smile, and wonderful sense of humor made people feel at home. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, where he served as an elder, and he enjoyed coaching youth sports and preparing meals for local ministries whenever he could.

Grant is survived by his wife, Chris; his children, Riley, Gardner, and Emma Ann; his parents, Brian and Patti Moss and Jo Ann Rotenberry; his brother, Greg Moss; his stepbrothers, Bryan and Brent Welker; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.

Though our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the gift of Grant’s life. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, the businesses he built, and the countless people whose lives are better because they knew him.

A Celebration of Grant’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Asheville. A reception will immediately follow in Gardner Fellowship Hall.
