Grace “Maxine” Greenlee McIntyre, 88, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Mission Hospital.

Mrs. McIntyre was born in Spruce Pine, NC to the late Charles Lawrence Greenlee, Sr. and Anne Riddle Greenlee. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Lawrence, Jr.

Maxine loved spending time with her family and traveling.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Daniel Parham McIntyre; two daughters, Leisa Pope (Mike) and Carol Johnson (Van) and three grandchildren, Trevor Pope, Andrew Pope and Meredith Pope.

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11:00 am at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital; www.shrinerschildrens.org

  1. Maxine was the best boss ever!! As office manager at Dr Sandridge and Councell’s office she led with kindness and grace. And then I got to o ow her better at church and I am so thankful to have known her!

  2. Dan, Carol and Lisa, Don and I are so sorry to hear of Max’s passing. Distant relative and long, long time friend, she was always smiling.
    Wonderful memories immediately comes to mind. Carol, thank you for the heads up, still shocked.

  3. My sincere sympathy to Dan and Maxine’s family. I met Maxine & Dan when I lived at Trinity View and was always delighted to see them at Arden Presbyterian. I appreciated her warmth and kindness.

  4. What a precious soul, I worked with Maxine for years- Thankful for the opportunity to have her apart of my life, and the gracious woman/leader she was. Prayers for Dan and family. She adored her girls and grandchildren.
