Gladys Gregory Moore, 88, formerly of Buncombe County, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at her home in Knoxville, TN.
Mrs. Moore was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Willard and Anna Dalton Gregory. She was married to Garland J. Moore, who died in 1999, and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Moore, and by two brothers, Wayne and Paul Gregory.
Mrs. Moore was retired from Sayles Biltmore Bleacheries and was a volunteer at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Allman and her husband, Steve, of Knoxville; two granddaughters, LaDonna Riner and husband Chris and Kimberly Yarber-Teague and husband, Stephen; three great-grandchildren, Chris Allman, Justin Yarber and Hannah Teague; and two great-great-grandchildren, Alena and Brentson Yarber; four sisters, Evelyn Thorpe, Edith Hogan, Atlas Anderson and Alice (Mike) Rothenberg; and two brothers, Talmadge and Melvin (Rhoda) Gregory.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Fairview, with the Revs. Jim Whitted and Michael Sluder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

I HAVE LOST ONE OF MY DEAREST FRIENDS. I WILL MISS HER LAUGHTER,HUMOR,& SPUNKYNESS.AND OUR TRIPS WE TOOK, AND GOING FOR OUR FISH. SHE WAS TRUELY A JOY AND BLESSING TO ME. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU BARBARA AND FAMILY. YOU WILL BE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. IF THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD LIKE GLADYS THIS WOULD BE A BETTER WORLD AND MUCH HAPPIER ONE. JUST KNOW I WILL ALWAYS BE JUST A PHONE CALL AWAY.
Barbara and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Gladys was a joy to know and I do have many wonderful memories of the times we spent together. She was easy to laugh and always had a good sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
The loss of Gladys has left a huge void in all of our lives. We share your sorrow and grief because we will miss her too. We will miss her spunky laugh and terrific personality. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
I have many wonderful memories of Gladys – but mostly of her incredible sense of humor! She always had a laugh ready and could cheer you in an instant.
