Gerard “Jerry” Paul Mozian, born January 16, 1945 in Yonkers, NY, lost his battle with cancer on May 17, 2026 with his wife, Susan, by his side at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Susan and Jerry had a loving marriage spanning over five decades. Susan and Jerry traveled the world in search of adventures, new sights and making new friends. They moved to the mountains of Western NC and settled in Arden, NC in June of 2000.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is also survived by his brother, Steve Mozian, his sister, Elise Shartsis, niece, Melissa Mozian and many friends and business associates. Jerry was predeceased by his parents Virginia (Chadik) & Gerard Mozian and nephew Steven Mozian.

Jerry graduated from prestigious Regis High School in NYC and furthered his education with degrees from Manhattan College in NYC and University of Pittsburgh. Learning was a way of life for Jerry and a lifelong joy. He used his education/degrees in finance and mechanical engineering at various companies and eventually starting his own business.

Jerry was very active in his community and helped those who welcomed his warm smile, calm nature and organizational skills. The words used to describe Jerry are many – trustworthy, ethical, honorable, humble. He treated all with dignity and respect and when you spoke with him, he made you feel like you were the only person in his universe.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, with a reception at the funeral home to follow. The Memorial Service will be streamed live via the link just below the obituary text.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Coalition (https://www.elementsofhope.org) or to a charity of one’s own choice.

Jerry’s family would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Gardner for her compassion and medical knowledge and all the friends who have supported Jerry through his final journey and surrounded Susan with love especially Lisa Zenzy, Jason Wicks and Rod Gilliam.

  3. Jerry was a deciple of Jesus and sincerely cared for everyone he met. Our loss is heaven’s joy.

  4. I will always remember Jerry for his deep kindness to me and my son Christopher. He unselfishly gave of his time and his love to spend time with Christopher while he was living with me and recovering from his injury.

    Susan, my heart goes out to you as you learn to navigate a new normal without Jerry by your side. I know he loved you deeply and would not have willingly chosen to go except that our Lord called him home.

  5. Jerry’s compassionate care for anyone struggling with life’s challenges was a true testament of serving as the hands and feet of Jesus. His heart of service was a blessing to so many. We are forever grateful for his friendship, mentorship, and care for all of us at Hope Coalition. He will be truly missed but we rejoice knowing that his last breath on earth was his first breath in Heaven.
