Garland J. Moore
December 29, 1917 ~ April 8, 1999
Asheville Butterfly TrailMr. Moore was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Willard B. and Mollie Conner Moore. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Moore, and a brother, Floyd Moore. He was a Navy veteran and was retired from the VA Medical Center. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Mens Class.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Gregory Moore; a daughter, Barbara Allman and her husband Steve, of Knoxville, TN; two granddaughters, LaDonna Allman-Boyd and her husband James, and Kimberly Yarber-Teague and her husband Stephen; two great-grandsons, Chris Allman and Justin Yarber; two sisters, Ella M. Spake and Ailene Freeman of Fairview; two brothers, Burgin Moore and Marvin Moore of Fairview; 13 nieces and nine nephews.
Funeral services will be at 5:00 pm Sunday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Day and Charles Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, where Mr. Moore will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

It has almost been two years since you went to Heaven. I still miss you as if it were yesterday. Dad I know you are happy, free of all pain and are waiting for us. Thank you for all you taught me and always being there for me. I love you so very much and you will always be in my heart.
