Asheville Butterfly TrailMr. Tipton was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Thomas Alfred and Augusta Garland Tipton. He was a retired fork lift operator with Williams-Brownell Lumber Company and was a member of Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Ellen Gibson Tipton and a sister, Myrtle Alexander.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Tipton, Cody Rice, Billy Shelton, Jimmy Rash, Ted Hawkins and John Roberts.
His family will receive friends from 6 - 7:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
