Asheville Butterfly TrailA native of Buncombe County, he was the son of Helen Nelson Alexander of Arden and the late Herbert Alexander.
He was a Navy veteran of WWII, a former member of Gideon's International and a member of Grace Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a retired employee of the A&P Tea Co. with 27 years service as meat department manager and supervisor.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Shirley Murdoch Alexander; three daughters, Sherry Rauschenplat of Candler, Debra Huff of Mars Hill and Kristy Komara of Hendersonville; one brother, Albert G. Alexander of Hendersonville; five grandchildren, Mark and Melinda Huntsinger, Jason and Timothy Worley and Ashley Komara.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday at Grace Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. J. Derrill Smith. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Grace Baptist Church, 718 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806 or to Gideon's International, 2900 Lebanon Road, Nashville, TN 37214.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.

Doris called us Christmas morning to tell us.
Some might think that the death of a loved one at Christmas makes the loss even more traumatic, but this is the time we are focusing on Jesus and his coming into the world to save each believer. We know that Frank is with Him now–they’re probably fishing together.

I am the daughter of the late Pearle and Paul Taylor. I remember Frank from when I was a little girl but I don’t know if his family would remember me. My brother was Doyle Taylor. I am so sorry about your loss. May God be with you.
