Frances Wynelle “Wendy” Ford Kuykendall, 91, of Candler, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Pisgah Manor.

A native of Buncombe County, Wendy was the daughter of the late Harold and Frances Ford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Robert Kuykendall; and son, David Kuykendall.

She is survived by daughters, Sheree Baker and Jan Cundiff (Marty); six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Acton United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Acton United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 171 Sand Hill School Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.

  3. Jan, I am so sorry for your loss. I have a very vivid memory of your Mom in the Sand Hill Elementary School library when I was in third grade. She was talking to us and she was so kind and gentle. I thought she was so special. Love you and sending you warm hugs.

  4. Brenda and I remember well Wendy’s and Jim’s (and generations of the Ford family’s) as active participants in the life and ministry of Acton UMC for decades. Wendy was a sweet lady!
