Frances R. Howell Pinkston, 90, of Asheville, NC, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at the home of her family.
Mrs. Pinkston was born in the Jacks Creek area of Yancey County and was married 49 years to Charles R. “Buck” Pinkston who died in 1990. She was a lifelong homemaker and gardener who shared her artistic and creative gifts of crafts and flowers with all.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Coxey and her husband John of Asheville; one son, Charles Pinkston and his wife Jean of Franklin; one sister, Katherine Crawford of Sylva and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 pm Sunday at Lewis Memorial Park, Beaverdam Road, Asheville.
I remember your sweet family from high school days. My deepest sympathy to you and yours.

Dear Charlie & Patricia,
I am Margaret Butson’s niece from Chattanooga and just got word about your mother.
I have many fond memories of her and the Siamese cats she raised. It was a highlight of
my trips to Asheville to cross the street and visit her and the cats. I had gone over to see her
a couple years ago when I took Mother to Asheville and will always remember that last
visit with her on the porch. We talked about when I used to come visit the cats and I admired
her wonderful hosta plants at the border of the house.
I will hold her in my memory forever.
