Floyd W. Ownbey, 80 of 184 Garren Creek
Road, Fairview, went to be with the Lord on
Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998.
He was the son of the late Wesley and Addie
Craig Ownbey. He retired from Beacon
Manufacturing after 40 years service. He was a
veteran of W.W. II with the 29th Infantry Division
in Europe. He received the Bronze Star and the
Purple Heart. He was a member of the Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary McAbee
Ownbey of the home; two sons, Edward Houston
Ownbey of Hendersonville, Phillip Mack Ownbey
of Fairview; three grandchildren; one great-
grandson; five step-grandchildren and ten step-
great-grandchildren and one sister, Gladys
Searcy of Gerton.
He and his wife loved and cared for many
children over the years.
Graveside services will be 2 pm Tuesday in the
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
conducted by the Rev. Ernest Craig.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30
pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home.
