Asheville Butterfly TrailEvelyn Carter, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
A native of Graham County, North Carolina, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Edith Crisp Middleton.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her devoted husband, Richard “Edward” Carter; her nephew, Eric McGee; her great-nephew, William Carter McGee; her great-niece, Sarah McGee; her brother-in-law, Bob Gunter; and her sister-in-law, JoAnne Gunter. She will be remembered fondly by her family and all who knew her.
A graveside service for Mrs. Carter will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1st, 2026 at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Reverend Rendell Hipps officiating.

I have loved Evelyn for many years now! I loved her smile and the warmth that she would always greet me with. She was the one who told us about a job you had open and we introduced Howard to you and the rest is history! She was a true jewel and one person I will never forget! Praying for you that God’s peace and love surrounds you!
