Eva Boyd Jones, 92, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026.

An Asheville native, Eva was a daughter of the late Leslie and Etta Jarvis Boyd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion D. Jones; and son, Daniel K. Jones.

Mrs. Jones retired from Southern Bell after 33 years of service. She then worked another 29 years with the Buncombe Co. District Attorney’s office. She was a member of Lake Hills Church.

Eva is survived by her son, David Jones (Melinda); daughter-in-law, Lyn Jones; grandchildren, Amy McGuire and Donna Groover; great-grandchildren, Colby, Abby, and Bradley; and great-great-grandson, Oliver.

The graveside service for Mrs. Jones will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at Green Hills Cemetery. Pastor Lee O’Briant, of Lake Hills Church, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  9. I’m so sorry to hear of Eva’s passing. She was a wonderful person! She was a good friend of my aunt, Dolores Rice, and my father, RB Moore. He knew her through Southern Bell and Dolores. I know Eva is rejoicing in Heaven with her Lord, and with her friends. My prayers are with her family.

    I have known her and her family since I was little growing up at Calvary Baptist Church on Haywood Road.

    While working at the Asheville Police Dept I spent a lot of time at the Court House and I always made sure I found Mrs. Eva there in the district attorney’s office. Seeing her always brightened my day. 🌞
