Erma Lee Crowell Blume, 86, died on Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Elizabeth House, in Flat Rock, NC.
She was a native of Eros, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, and was the daughter of Julian James Crowell and Clemmie Coon.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel John Blume, who died in 1997 after 51 years of marriage; her sister, Elaine Dowdy; and by her brother, Raymond Crowell.
She is survived by her two sons, William Rogers Blume, and Charles Julian Blume, and her daughter-in-law, Janet Blume; two grandsons, Rogers and John; her great-grandson, Timmy Carr; sisters, Media Sanders, and Elve Owens; and her brother, Irvin Crowell.
Mrs. Blume’s previous residences were in Maryland, Eros and West Monroe, LA, and in Asheville, NC. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, in West Monroe.
Her working career was for the Hecht-May Company, Highs Dairy Store, and Grants and Hutzler’s department stores. She also worked at an ammunitions plant during WWII in Louisiana. One of her favorite things to do was to play canasta at the West Monroe Senior Center. Other hobbies were reading, sewing and gardening.
A funeral service for Mrs. Blume will be at Mulhearn’s Funeral Home, 300 McMillan Rd., West Monroe, LA, 71291, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Erma will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her.
