Erlene Bell Jenkins Nicholson

Erlene Bell Jenkins Nicholson, 93, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

A native of Madison Co., Erlene was a daughter of the late E.M. and Ethel Davis Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Brewster Nicholson.

Mrs. Nicholson was a longtime member of Reed Memorial Baptist Church until the church closed. She enjoyed spending her time quilting.

She is survived by her daughters, Tracy Nicholson, and Patricia Rice (Wayne); son, Bill Nicholson; grandchildren, Michael (Amanda), Jason (Heather), Matthew, Jordan, and Brandon; two great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Jocelyn; and other family members.

Mrs. Nicholson will lie in repose at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, for those who wish to pay their respects.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, at 12:30 p.m. in the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. The Rev. Jimmy Hensley will officiate. Burial will then follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.
