Elvie Joe Ball

Mr. Ball was a native of Madison County and had lived for 55 years in Buncombe County.  He was a son of the late S.B. and Vadie Kent Ball and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ball Maney.  He was retired from dairy farming and from Taylor Industries.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Christine McGalliard Ball;  two sons, Joe Ball, Jr. and his wife Rosalie and Jerry Ball and his wife Jean, and a son-in-law, Perry Maney, all of Leicester;  three grandchildren, Roxanne Ball Ketner and her husband Brandon of Uniontown, PA, and Rebecca Ball and Jonathan Ball of Leicester;  a great-grandchild, Brian Ketner of Uniontown, four brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Chaplain Jane Curran officiating.  Burial will be at Ashelawn Gardens.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
