Elva Mae Wynes Laney, 87, of Candler, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Haywood County, Mrs. Laney was a daughter of the late Floyd and Dessie Park Wynes, and had lived in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Ervin Laney, Sr., who died in 2011; two brothers, The Rev. Ray Wynes and J.R. Wynes, and a grandson, Terry Wayne Pressley. Mrs. Laney formerly worked at Mars Mfg. Co. and was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning but most especially was dedicated to her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Laney is survived by her daughters, Reva Waldrup and husband Charles, Shirley Gaylord and husband Gene, Martha Edwards and husband Bruce, Loretta Griffin and husband Charles, and Brenda Parton; sons, Lewis Laney, Jr., and wife Sandra, and Ervin Laney and wife Sharon; sisters, Edna Taylor and and Hilda Taylor; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Laney will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Charles Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Laney's family sincerely appreciates the dedication, love and care the nurses, CNAs, and full staff of Pisgah Manor provided to Mrs. Laney. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church, 370 Lake Drive, Candler, NC 28715.

    Aunt Elva Mae will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her and loved her. She would not want us to cry but to rejoice that she has gone to be with JESUS and Uncle Lewis and to never suffer again.We love you all and God bless
