Eleanor Beatrice Beattie Vergian, a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, passed away at her home in Asheville, NC, on Tuesday afternoon, June 13, 2017.
She was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on February 9, 1921, to Caroline Eva Gerber Beattie and Richard Beattie. She married William Vernon Verigan on February 17, 1957, and they moved to Asheville in 1963. Mrs. Verigan worked at Eliada Home for Children for many years, continuing her service to Christ. She was a faithful member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, which later became the Cornerstone Church of Asheville, where she was Sunday school teacher and loyal member.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by William Vernon Verigan, her devoted husband of 60 years; her daughter Faith Walker; and her grandchildren, Kara Walker and Thomas Walker.
The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Jeffrey Hober officiating. Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, in Black Mountain.
