Elaine (Baldwin) Gaffney, 86, of Fletcher, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at The Laurels of
Hendersonville.

Born in Buncombe County, she was the wife of Junious “Bud” Gaffney of Fletcher, to whom she was married 63 years. She was the daughter of the late Emery Joshua and Hazel (Mallory) Baldwin. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jay Baldwin.

A lover of dogs, Elaine proudly owned seven during her lifetime.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Ryan Martin Gaffney and his wife Sheri; a daughter,Laura Gaffney Ducker and her husband David; two grandchildren: Aaron Ducker and his wife Alisha and Ethan Gaffney; two great-grandchildren: Magnolia and Evelyn Ducker; a sister, Amy Lancaster and her husband Rob; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved grand-pup, Spud.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Oak Grove Christian Church with Pastor Archie Gilmer officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service, from 2 to 3 PM.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
