Edna Louiza Brookshire, 80, formerly of Altamonte Trailer Park, Asheville, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at the WNC Baptist Retirement Center.
Miss Brookshire was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Charles David Brookshire, Sr. and Lillie Olive Hall Brookshire. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Oma Owenbey, Willie Rogers and Shirley Murphy; three brothers, Lemuel Brookshire, Haynes Brookshire and Charles Horace Brookshire and long time companion Ernest Davis. She was a former employee of Square D and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Genevieve Mehaffey and a brother, Charles David Brookshire, Jr. and his wife Violet, all of Leicester and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Scroggs, Neville B. Storey and Jackie Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Miss Brookshire spent her entire life serving and caring for others. Her family would like to thank the staff at the Baptist Retirement Home for all their help and kindness.

We were so sorry to read of Edna’s passing and just wanted to tell all family members that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

Papaw, Nanny and Aunt Genevieve,
I am so sorry I was unable to be there to support you when Aunt Edna passed. The angels were so proud to greet her in heaven, as were all of her family and friends that are already there!
