Asheville Butterfly TrailShe was born in Lawrence County, Arkansas on December 30, 1914 and grew up in McAllen, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Marcus Lafayette Brady and Ida Pettyjohn Brady.
Mrs. Thompson was a 1938 graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Nursing at Memphis. During World War II she served as a surgical nurse with the Army Air Corps and married Virgil Thompson while in service.
She was an active member of her church and as a volunteer for the Red Cross and other civic organizations.
Surviving are her husband, Virgil of Crescent View; her son, Bob and his wife, Mary of Asheville; her daughter, Sarah and her husband, Ray of Albuquerque, NM.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday at the Lutheran Church of the Nativity in Arden with Rev. Ernest Ridenhour officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Your mom will always be a smile and warm place in our hearts. She made us laugh as she turned her new walking chair into a racing car down the hallways of Crescent View! She looked on the bright side of life and showed us how. What an honor it was to be able to know and love her! Mom, Molly, Skip and I all send you our love and hope that wonderful memories of your mom will surround you and comfort you.
Aunt Edie will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
