Dorothy Mae Conner Pack, 92, of Asheville, died on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at her residence. A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Pack was a daughter of the late Robert Joe and Sally McFalls Conner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Pack; her son, Richard Pack; three sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Flora Patterson and husband Calvin, of Fairview, Shirley Edwards, of Asheville, and Florence Christopher, of Arden; sisters, Alma Allen, of Asheville, and Margaret Pierson, of Marion; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. The funeral for Mrs. Pack will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Buddy N. Corbin, Chaplain of CarePartners Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

  1. Granny was a very special person. She was my great grandmother. She played a big role in my upbringing. She tried to teach me how to bake cakes and pies and cook breakfast. I will miss her so much, but I know that she is in a much better place… a place without pain.

    I am sorry that you have lost another sister but we all know that she is in a better place now and that she is also well again and will have no more sickness in her life. The best part is that this goodbye is not forever but for only a little while. I love you all and will have you in my prayers for the next weeks to come.

    I will remember always the love and
    happness that she would show for me
    and everyone that she would come in contact with, especially little children and animals.
    Granny, you will be missed very much by me and countless others that knew you.
    You know Christmas and Christmas dinner will not be the same with out you. But I will cherish the thought just knowing you will be at our saviours’ feet on Christmas day and all of the other days
    forever.
