Donald Rhodes

Arden - Donald Rhodes, 74 of Ball Gap Road, died Friday, February 25, 2000 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late David Frank and Kate Rubena Moody Rhodes. He was a sheet metal worker and a member of the Asheville Moose Lodge #781. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Harmon Rhodes; daughter, Donna Herndon and her husband Buddy of Mt. Holly, NC; two grandchildren, Melony Carruthers and her husband Scott and Brandon Herndon and his wife Jennifer; three great-grandchildren, Austin Herndon, Ethan Herndon and Sumerlyn Carruthers and a sister, Anna Laura Scarborough of Asheville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Rhodes, Jr. Services will be held at 3 pm Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by Buddy Herndon. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 pm Sunday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road.
