Diane Shearer Sharrits

Diane Shearer Sharrits, 87, of Arden, NC, passed away on June 8, 2026.

Born on November 22, 1938 in Endicott, NY, Diane was the daughter of William Shearer, MD & Mariece Shearer. She graduated from Rogers Hall School for Girls and Tufts University with a Physical Therapy degree and went on to a 40 year career as a physical therapist with a speciality in pediatics. She retired as a therapist from Buncombe County School System in 2002.

Diane was known for her dedication to children with special needs and also for her work at Calvary Episcopal Church, Fletcher where she was a dedicated volunteer in the Food Pantry and also on the Altar Guild. She was a skilled knitter and many of her friends and family were recipients of her sweaters, hats and scarfs.

She is survived by her sister Janni Shearer of East Greenbush, NY, three children; Duncan Sharrits and his wife Ann-Marie of Morganton, NC, Greg Sharrits of Arden, NC, and Abigail Plemmons and her husband Mark of North Andover, MA, and 6 grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church Food Pantry in Fletcher, NC.
