Asheville – Claudine Simpson Creasman, 87, of Asheville, went home to be with her Lord on February 26, 2011 at Cedar Mountain House in Brevard. Born in Bristol, Va., to the late Henry and Eva Leonard Simpson, Claudine resided most of her life in Buncombe County. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Hampton, and a brother, Johnny Simpson. Survivors include three children; Tom Creasman and wife Sheila, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Pat Loftis and husband Tony of Brevard; and John Creasman and wife Nancy of Asheville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Tiffani Creasman, Chelsea Lillback, Whitney Recker, Marsha King, Leanne Loftis, Aaron Creasman and Kevin Creasman; and three great-grandchildren: Keira Lillback, Triston King, and Adelyn Creasman. Claudine was a faithful member of Biltmore Baptist Church for more than 50 years and taught in the Children's Department there for more than 20 years. She worked for CP Clare & Company in Fairview. She was a member of the Biltmore Lions Club and the North Carolina Army National Guard Auxiliary. She also volunteered with Western Carolina Rescue Ministries. Claudine had a firm belief that everyone should enjoy family and friends whenever possible. She had a quick smile and a mischievous sense of humor. To engage a perfect stranger in conversation was one of her hallmarks. She expressed a love for people and often extended a helping hand. She was our Mother Teresa. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday, March 5, 2011, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Reverend Dr. Ian Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Sky View Memorial Park in Asheville. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, March 4, 2011, at the chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Flowers are appreciated but donations can be made to the Cedar Mountain House, 11 Sherwood Ridge Rd, Brevard, NC 28712.

  1. Mrs.C was a precious Mother to her children and one to us,Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were lights in her eyes. She gave her heart and love unselfishly to people around her. She unconditionally loved with all her heart. She made us smile and laugh with all her stories. She loved all her family and spoke of them with so much pride,We will miss her here, Heaven gained a rose, and a great sitter for our children.I can only imagine her face, when she seen the Father, How she carried a light of Christ in her life daily. and would always tell others, We’ll see you soon and What A Day That Will Be!

  8. I found this obituary accidentally while looking for another. However, I bet Mrs. Creasman & I would’ve been fast friends. I also chat with strangers & have a mischievous sense of humor. We would’ve enjoyed volunteering somewhere & “cutting up.” She sounds like she was a great lady to know.
