CHARLES RAY HENSLEY
OAKLEY – Charles Ray Hensley, 61, of Oakley, passed away at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals on March 30, 2011, following an accidental fall.
An Asheville native, he served in the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged to care for his aging grandparents.
He was employed by Servamation Vending Co. until he started his own business, C&D Truck and Auto Repair. Charles was an accomplished mechanic for over 30 years, where he made many friends and loyal co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Hensley, of Sylva; and by his maternal grandparents, James T. and Viola G. Blalock of Oakley.
He leaves behind a loving family; wife of 43 years, Dale McCarson Hensley; son Charles Ray Hensley, Jr. (Ashley); grandson Trent Hensley; mother Joella Rigsby; and a brother, Steven Lee Smith.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Ward officiating. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

I remember Charles from his days as a student at AC Reynolds. He always had a smile on his face and was such a polite, nice young man. I send my condolences to his family in this time of grief. Remember the good times and he will be with you always.
