Betty Reece Calloway

Betty Jeanette Reece Calloway, 61, of 3 Knob Hill Road, Asheville, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Calloway was born in Buncombe County and was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Genevieve Corn Reece, her former husband James Samuel Calloway, and a brother Roy Reece. She was a member of Woodland Terrace Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, James Calloway and his wife Sandra of Canton and Timothy Calloway of Asheville; three grandsons James J. Calloway, Gregory D. Calloway, and Nicholas C. Calloway; four sisters, Mary Lee of Canton, Alma Williams of Asheville, Susie Cochran of Canton and Kathy Penland of Maggie Valley; and a brother Paul Reece of Canton. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Alf Miller and O.J. Skidmore officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Radio Station WKJV, 60 Adams Hill Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
