Bertha Willis Williams
August 25, 1918 ~ July 9, 2002

A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Minnie Angel Willis and wife of the late Lawrence C. Williams, who died in 1985.
She is survived by her children, Ruth Barnwell, and her husband Kenneth Barnwell, Carolyn Halford, and her husband, the Rev. Norman Halford, Barbara Owens, and her husband Dee Owens, James Everett Williams, and his wife Joann, David Williams, and his wife Joyce, and Lewis Williams, all of Fletcher; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one niece, Karen Keaton and special cousins, Frank and Ned Thomas. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by three brothers, Coy, Carl and Robert Willis.
Services will be held at 6 pm Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Revs. Lawrence Rhodes, Roland Whitaker and Noah Barefoot.
Burial will be held at 10 am Saturday in Emma’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Revs. Daniel Allen and Donnie Birchfield.
Her family will receive friends Friday, immediately following the service at the funeral home until 8:30 pm and at other times will be at the residence, 30 Lawrence Road, Fletcher.
