Andrew Jackson Plemmons

      Andrew Jackson Plemmons, 93, of 660 Newfound Road, Leicester, died Monday,
December 21, 1998, in a local health care facility.                                   
     Mr. Plemmons was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a son of the late
Joseph C. and Leona Phillips Plemmons.  He was retired after 35 years with American
Enka and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  He was married  for 63
years to Eva Gorman Plemmons, who died in 1990 and was also preceded in death by a
son, Hal Ray Plemmons, and a grandson, Edward Wilson.
     He is survived by two daughters, Betty Lee Wilson of Candler and Carrie Mae
Plemmons of the home;  a son, Joe Gaston Plemmons of Penrose;  five grandchildren, six
great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church with
the Revs. Fred Carpenter and Michael Scroggs officiating.  Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
     His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and request
that memorials be made to Grace United Methodist Church, c/o Levi Hall, 481 Old
