Almarie Ramsey Cody, 92, formerly of Battery Park Apartments, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Magnolia Health Care Center in Asheville. Mrs. Cody was born in Madison County and was a daughter of the late Lattie and Virgie Wallen Ramsey. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Albert Cody. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Christine Goforth and husband Bill, and Leigh Jackson, all of Whittier; one son, Eddie Cody, of Marshall; two sisters, her twin, Valerie Guthrie and Helen Bowman, both of Marshall; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Ralph Sexton, Jr. and Jerry Young officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

  3. Mrs Cody and I have gone to church together for years. I sat with her most Sundays in the old church building. She was a very special lady. May God bless you at this difficult time but realize that she is in Heaven with our Heavenly Father.

  4. Mrs. Cody was my resident at one time and I say ‘my’ resident!! She was always the sweetest person. I enjoyed the time I had being her nurse. She was always so loving and dear to everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with Sam and Chris, and the rest of your family.

  5. so sorry to hear of Almarie.we all use to go to church together in walnut,nc.my mom and she were good friends and us kids loved her dearly too.she was a very hard worker.seems like i can hear her laugh and talk now.Her daughter as i knew as pansy was one of my dearest friends growing up.We had some great times together.My prayers are with her,Christine,Eddie AND her twin sister Valerie and the rest of the relatives.Im sure shes happy to see her other son in heaven who was taken at too young aN age.GOD BE WITH ALL OF YOU.IN GODS LOVE,BETTY LOU
