Alice “Nonnie” Fay Smith, 80, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026 at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born in Kentucky to the late Jessie William Mills and Reba Taylor Mills. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dale Smith; a son, Jeffrey Richard Smith; three sisters, Shelby Keen, Pansy Rodriguez and Carol Smith and two brothers, Jimmy Mills and Junior Mills.
Alice and her husband loved working with their hands renovating houses and they even built their own house when they moved here in 1978. Alice loved her family and was affectionally known to her grandkids as “Nonnie”. She also enjoyed her coffee and taking care of people in need.
She is survived by her daughter Alissa Franks (David); a guardian of, Rick Rodriguez; eight grandchildren, Zachary Dylan Nelson, Trevor David Franks, Chase Richard Franks (Alaina), Jerrica Erwin (Andrew), Jacob Richard Smith and Silas Trey Smith; one great grandson, Zepplin; a brother, Charlie Mills (Nancy) and a sister, Janet Evans (Bob).
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian in Arden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
Burial will follow the service at Cane Creek Cemetery in Fairview.
