Watching the day unfold while enjoying a cup of coffee will be a ritual I continue as a way of feeling close to her. No laugh will ever compare to hers, and I will forever long for one last hug or phone call. Every rose bush, every flea market, and every McDonald’s ice cream cone will carry a little more meaning now that she is gone.
Although this is the end of an amazing chapter of my life with Grandma, I know she is exactly where she wants to be: in the arms of her best friend and soulmate, and in the arms of her loving Heavenly Father.
Rest in peace, Nanny Betty. You will always be loved and deeply missed.
