Charles Lee Hart, 74, of Arden, NC passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the VA Hospital surrounded by his family.
Mr. Hart was born on October 8, 1950 in Asheville, NC to the late Charles William Hart and Sylvia Ellen Harju Hart.
Charles was a U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He loved fishing, golf, but most importantly, he cherished his wife and all of his girls. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and quickly made friends with anyone he met.
Charles is survived by his wife of 42 years, Deborah “Elaine” Hart; two daughters, Traci Kinney (John) and Christie Hawk (Justin); four grandchildren, Lillian Cowan-Kinney, Olivia Hawk, Madelyn Hawk, and Georgia Kinney; as well as two sisters, Carolyn Clampett (Bill) and Cathy Norton (Larry).
His family and friends will remember him as a sentimental, comical, loving man who put his family before anything else.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Friday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matt Metzger presiding. The family will privately lay him to rest at Calvary Episcopal Church following the celebration of life.

I’m so sad about the passing of uncle Charlie. He was always the nicest guy. The most thoughtful thing he did that stands out to me most was him coming to see me in the hospital when I had my first child. Elaine, Traci, and Christie I’m so sorry for your loss, and we are praying for all of y’all during this difficult time. Love all of you!
We always parted ways saying to each other, “Call me if you need anything!” And we did just that. From time-to-time he’d ask me to help him lift or move something that was too much for one person, or some other little project. And, from time-to-time, I’d ask if I could borrow his truck or trailer, or some tool he had. Our answers to each other were always “Absolutely, come on over,” and “Sure thing, I’m on my way!”
I imagine some Angel in Heaven must have said to him, “Charlie, time for you come on over,” and he said, “Sure thing, I’m on my way!”
Well Charles, we didn’t get that golf outing put together with our TCR golfers like we had planned and talked about. We’ll tee it up when we meet again! You were one of the good guys and will be missed by all who knew you. Mary and I will be keeping your family and the many friends you left behind in our prayers.
