William Eugene Piver

William Eugene "Gene" Piver, 71, of Fletcher, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 19, 2014. A native of Lumberton, NC, he was a son of the late William and Helen Holcombe Piver. Gene was a retired building contractor, an avid outdoorsman, and a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Suzanne Maney Piver; one daughter, Amy Piver Dupree (Mike) of Gibsonville, NC; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Adair Dupree of Gibsonville as well as one sister, Grace Holden of Asheville. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Calvary Episcopal Church with Father Victor Mansfield and Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Canham officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gene's memory to either the Manna Food Bank, Calvary Church Food Pantry or to a charity of one's choice. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
