William Edward Lyda

William Edward "Bill" Lyda, 67, of Middleburg, FL, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013. He was born on August 19, 1946, in Buncombe County and attended Erwin High School. Bill retired from the Maxwell House Coffee plant in 2002 after 27 years of employment and was a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas E. Lyda; his mother Margaret L. Lyda; brother Tommy L. Lyda and sister, Margie L. Smith. Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna C. Lyda and sisters, Betty Jean Roberts and Nancy K. Smith. A visitation will be held at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road, Friday, November 1, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM. Interment services will follow visitation at Woodlawn Cemetery (Merchant Street, Asheville) with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Watch Tower Society of Jehovah's Witness, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY, 11201-2483. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is in charge of local arrangements for the Lyda family.
