Asheville Butterfly TrailWilliam “Bill” H. Ballard, 93, passed away February 24, 2026, in Asheville.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary (Johnson) Ballard; three sons: Todd, John, and David; two grandsons: Reese and Brody; and two daughters- in- law: Michelle and Cathy.
Bill was born in Richmond County, North Carolina and is the last of seven children. Bill served in the Navy, graduated from Western Carolina and retired from Burlington Industries.
There will be no public service and burial will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Givens Estates Resident Assistance Fund (in his memory), c/o Givens Estates, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.

When we worked together at Peck School I remember how you would talk about Bill and the boys. I remember how he would stop by the classroom every now and then. Sending love and sympathy to you and your family.

We had so many good times together we cannot list them all. When you moved to Ashville we lost contact, but we will never forget them. Bull loved to drive your van and we went all over. We mourn his passing and know Bill is whole again and he is with our Lord.

Your dad was one great man. The way he helped y’all with the many sports you played. He was a great pleasure to be with.
