Victor Anthony Trotta, 84, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, at the CarePartners Solace Center, Asheville.
Born in Hackensack, NJ, he was a son of the late Vito Anneillo Trotta and Carmella Manggini Trotta. He served in the US Army from 1955 – 1957 and was a former high school business teacher and track coach in Kinnelon, NJ. In 2012 he was made a member of the Kinnelon High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Victor loved fishing and was a licensed Captain of the Sea Fever, a sport fishing boat out of Atlantic Highlands, NJ. The Coast Guard licensed him for up to 500 miles out. In addition, he drove a Greyhound Scenic Cruiser bus.
Vic and his friend, Bucky Whritenour operated a small bar and grill in Butler, NJ, called the Whale & Tale.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Trotta, a sister, Jean Cooper of Upper Saddle River, NJ, his beloved "foster" daughter, Lucia Cota of Simpsonville, SC, and his faithful cat "Buddy".
A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. Dean Cesa at 12:00 p.m. Friday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel.
