Venie King Brown, 94, died Monday, May 22, 2017, at her home.
Born in Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Coy and Netter Ledbetter King. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Brown; grandson, Randy Woody; sisters, Gladys, Vever and Vernie, and brothers. Curtis, Gordon, Millard, Bill and Lewis.
She is survived by her daughter, Mable Ann Brown Clayton; son, Gerald Lee Brown (Susie); grandchildren, Wendy Lawing and Lisa Buckner; great-grandchildren, Brancyn and Jayden, and sister, Viola K. Tweed.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Burke officiating. Burial will follow at Little Sandy United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Mrs. Brown's caregiver, Sherry Morris, for the loving care she provided.
