Thomas “Tommy” Chambers lived life filled with passion, adventure, and a fearless embrace of the moment.
Born on May 2, 1968, he graduated from Clyde A. Erwin High School in Asheville in 1986. Tommy grew up with a love for speed and the thrill of the race. Drag racing became one of his greatest joys, where he found freedom and excitement on the track. His career as a gifted CNC machinist and supervisor showcased his precision and dedication to craftsmanship.
Tommy was a man of many facets. He enjoyed life’s indulgences. Tommy lived a complicated life with many personal challenges. Known for his charm and charisma, people were drawn to his magnetic personality.
Despite life’s challenges, Tommy’s spirit remained unbroken. At the age of 48, tragedy struck when he became paralyzed, yet he faced this adversity with resilience. Diagnosed with cancer at 55, Tommy fought bravely but passed away at the age of 56 on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
He is survived by his mother, Peggy Ann Farnsworth, and stepfather, Horace “Lee” Farnsworth of Carolina Shores NC; dear, long-invested friend, April Worley Igoe; and a spark in his world, his only son, Timothy Mitchell Chambers, of Asheville, who carries forward his legacy. Tommy will be remembered for his zest for life, his love for the fast lane, and his ability to live unapologetically on his own terms. May he rest in peace.
His family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
