Thomas Hileman "T.H." Plemmons, Jr., 86, of Candler, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Pisgah Valley.
Mr. Plemmons was born July 4, 1929 in Alexander, NC to the late Thomas Hileman Plemmons, Sr. and Vergie Hawkins Plemmons. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Catherine "Dot" Roberts.
After working in the shipyard in Norfolk, VA and serving in the U.S. Army, T.H. returned to Buncombe County where he was a home builder. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and could often be found at the Candler Feed and Seed "telling tales". He was a member of the Hominy Masonic Lodge and Pole Creek Baptist Church. He loved the Lord.
He was preceded in death by siblings Manilla Plemmons Jones and husband Bob; Marshall Plemmons and sister-in-law Cornelia; Thomas W. "Buck" Plemmons and sister-in-law Ruth; and brother-in-law Larry Hawkins.
He is survived by children Cathy Duyck Maney and husband Dusty; Clay Erskine Plemmons and wife Candy; grandchildren Fred Duyck, Meredith Sessoms, Barry, Garren, and Carrie Ann Plemmons; great-grandchildren Sally and Fred Duyck; sister Meredith Plemmons Hawkins; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Pole Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at Hice Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Pisgah Manor for the loving care they provided to Mr. Plemmons.

We’re so sorry for your loss. T.H. was a big part of my childhood. Our families spent alot of time playing cards and games when we were kids.

In case you don’t remember us, your grandmother Roberts was my great aunt and we lived beside of her in Leicester. We always enjoyed seeing your parents sometimes at Ammons Drive-In. They always had a smile and enjoyed being around people. I know Your dad will be missed by all who knew him.

Just wanted you all to know how special Mr. Plemmons was to us. My mother (Eva Payne) is a resident at Pisgah Manor. She had known ‘TH’ and his family for most of her life. Mr. Plemmons often joined us when we a family gathering. He was so delightful. We will remember you all in our thoughts and prayers.
Our prayers go out to your family . T.H . left a memory with many people including myself .He was my first ‘Boss’ . he taught me a lot , while having fun and laughing . It was a pleasure to know him and his family through the years !
