Stephen "Steve" Russell Shaw

stephen
Steve was a loving husband, a doting father, a playful grandfather, a faithful friend and a man of wisdom. Above all else, he loved and honored God, which was evident in the way he lived. He faithfully served in his church communities over the years as a member, elder and leader. Steve embraced life and treasured the little moments, especially with his family. He was never afraid of a new adventure, was quick with a witty joke, a wry smile, and a big hug. He was always available to oversee or assist in furniture assembly, make others feel important through his efforts, and could say a million things all in one look. He is cherished and loved by many and those who knew him will treasure the memories and be grateful for the time they had. Stephen is survived by his wife Judy Shaw of 50 years; daughter and son-in-law Denise and Rhett Barnard and grandson Shaw, and daughter and son-in-law Leanne and Jeremy Leifheit and grandsons, Gavin, Jacob, and John; his sister Sheryl Schaeffer; his brother Tony Shaw, and many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to Samaritan’s Purse www.samaritanspurse.org/donate or American Diabetes Association www.donations.diabetes.org Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Arden First Baptist Church with a reception to follow.

Flora and I were saddened to here of Steve’s passing. I remember the time I first met Steve in the Bay Area, he was new to the marketing part of the business but was eager to get started. I will always remember him as a thoughtful and caring person.

  6. Steve and I worked together in San Francisco in the 70’s. He told me a story about his daughter saying her prayers one evening before bed. Steve had his arm around her at the side of the bed and she was thanking God for everyone and everything she could think of until she couldn’t think of anything else to say so she said as she looked at Steve’s arm, ‘and thank you, God, for all the little hairs on daddy’s arm – Amen.’

  7. Very sorry to learn of Steve’s passing. He was a wonderful man and a great role model for all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  8. I am so sorry for your loss. Steve was such a kind, Godly man. I know he is with his Lord and savior. May God comfort you all as you mourn.

  9. Working with Steve Shaw helped make my work career at Texaco more meaningful because of the sense of integrity that he brought to our Company.
    Rest in peace, Steve.

  10. I worked with Steve in New Jersey during the Star Enterprise and Motiva days. Great memories of working with him. Bought his Toyota Supra when he shipped me back to Houston and I lost my company car. Lol. I have only respect and admiration for the times we spent together…at work and personally. Judy I pray for you and your family. I know how difficult it is…but know Steve is smiling down from heaven. God bless.

  11. Dear Judy and family,
So sorry to hear of Steve’s passing, he was always one of the good guys, who took a genuine and sincere interest in all those he worked with. Wonderful memories of first meeting Steve at LA Refinery, when he would smile and joke about us ‘marketing guys’? before becoming one of us. Blessed with great memories of Steve and drives to Corona Del Mar. Take care and God Bless Steve and your entire family.

  12. Judy, Nancy and I look for ward to celebrating Steve’s life Saturday with you and the girls. Hope the weather holds so we can get across the mountain. Steve was a special person! Getting to know Steve and your family was one of the only good things that happened in the 1986 reorganization. We worked together, built our houses together, car pooled together and played together. Our loss is Heavens gain.
    Carey

  13. Judy

  16. We knew Steve and Judy from being in Lamaze classes with them in 1976. Among the nicest, most genuine, and caring people we’ve ever met. We feel your loss as 18 months ago we lost our 18 year-old granddaughter
to complications of diabetes. We hope the Shaws’ deep Christian faith will hold them in good stead and provide peace and comfort. Rest in peace Steve.
