Ruth Farmer Holcombe, 86, of the Brian Center, Weaverville, formerly of 550 Cedar Hill Road, Asheville, died Saturday, January 7, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital.
Mrs. Holcombe was born in Canton and was a daughter of the late Robert Jesse and Lona Reil Farmer. She was married to Thomas Lee Holcombe, Sr., who died in 1994, and she was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Larry Holcombe and his wife, Gretchen, of Candler, three step-grandchildren, Charlie Holcombe, Jordan Holcombe and Sawyer Holcombe.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Everette Haney officiating. Private burial will be at Bethel Community Cemetery in Haywood County.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

We are sorry that you have lost your Mother. We loved her AND SHE WAS A special Lady. We will never forget how excited she got when we finally were able to come to her house and have supper with her and your family. She was always in good spirits when we visited her at the Brian Center.We have missed her for sometime in our church but she was not forgotten. God bless you and your family during this time and we will pray for you–Ken & Wanda

Ruth was a very special friend to me for many years. So sorry to hear of her death. I am now living in South Carolina and sorry I am unable to be there with you for the funeral.

Larry, she’s been met by my moma I know it!(Norma Lee) They thought the world of each other! Shopping- going to lunch and Church together. I wish I could have been there.
