Rue Kathleen Capps, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 3 after a period of declining health. She was born in Madison County March 14, 1923 to Riley and Ollie Cody Capps. After graduating from Walnut High School, she lived out the rest of her life in Buncombe Couny in the area west of Asheville. Affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as Aunt Susie, she was a loyal and dedicated family caregiver and often spent her time doing for others. Fiercely independent, she loved gardening and tending her flowers and took great joy in the many colorful plants adorning her yard. She was a member of Deaverview Baptist Church. She worked at the Asheville Hosiery Mill and Kearfott Corporation prior to working and retiring with Square D Company in 1988. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Towe and Meryl Coggins. She is survived and mourned by her sister Mildred Austin, brother Robert Capps and wife Della Mae; nephews, Vernon Austin and wife Joan, and Tim Capps and wife Nita; nieces Dianna Attaway and husband Steve, and Brenda Capps; 3 great-nieces, 2 great-nephews, and 2 great-great nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Darryl Searcy officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave. Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be made to the John F.
