Roy Edward Williams

Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a son of the late William A. and Bertie Smith Williams, and was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Williams, in 1977. He was an Army veteran and retired in 1989 after 36 years with Enka/BASF. He was a member of Beaverdam Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Muller Williams; one son, Carl Williams of Detroit, MI; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lackey and Bryan and Jacob Williams; two great-grandchildren, Talon Lackey and Madison Williams; and two sisters, Betty Brown of Kinston and Louise Beauchamp of Atlanta, GA.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Goode officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
